It’s been a LONG while since my last post. I’m still here and I’m still training. Lots of things happening including being really sick (and since recovering), working so many hours that I can’t keep track, traveling for family events, and trying to have a little bit of time for just me. The good news is I’m still managing to run and train.
I’ve had a lot of recent injuries that fortunately have healed. I owe a great deal of thanks to Dr. Cheryl Lee-Pow and Sedric Otuya at Pow-HER Chiropractic. Sedric is a certified trainer and Chiropractic Assistant. In my quest to stay healthy and get stronger, I just started cross-training with Sedric. He’s been working with Dr. Cheryl on my treatment so he knows my weak areas, and he understands my fitness/training goals. It’s truly one-stop shopping. 🙂
This was one of the most enjoyable training sessions I’ve had. It was only a half hour, but we work efficiently and got a lot accomplished. We started last night with a .5 mi warm up on the recumbent cycle and then did a variety of exercises including ones to strengthen my hip flexors, core, and glutes. We ended with stretching and foam rolling. The goal is to fix my muscle imbalance and improve my endurance. I’m stoked cause I’ll be able to run for longer distances and stay healthy.
The Cherry Blossom 10-miler is on April 3 and the Zooma Annapolis Half Marathon is in June. With Dr. Cheryl’s and Sedric’s help, I’ll get and stay race ready!
