Hello!

I am Diana Dibble

This is a chronicle of my journey…my life.  These are my thoughts and musings of how I fit an active personal life into my busy work life. It can all be done. It’s also a reminder that no matter what happens, life is more fun if you #maketimetoplay!

It’s just like running…one step at a time.

Once upon a time

This is my story

Once upon a time…

Once upon a time a 45 year-old woman decided that she would get into shape and start a running program. This particular woman had been an athlete and in sports since the age of 4, but somehow during her late 30s, life got in the way. She became very busy and out of shape. And then at 50 she reinvented herself again, not only as an athlete but the direction she took her personal and professional lives.

This is my story. Maybe you can relate to it; or maybe you can inspire me. Whichever it may be, it’s a never ending process of learning who you want to be when you grow up and then becoming that person.

How it began

In 2001 I started my second business – this time with an amazing business partner. My success however came with a cost – my health and my weight. My work was all consuming and over time I gained a lot of weight and became practically inactive. In 2007, I joined Weight Watchers to get my eating under control. Unlike most people who overeat, I didn’t eat a enough food or drink enough fluids. As a result I was dehydrated all the time and my body was in starvation mode. By paying attention to my food and fluid intake and by walking a lot, I lost almost 30 pounds.

Even with this success, I missed being an athlete. Ever since high school, I wanted to run, but never seemed to be able to physically do it. In my early 20s I was tried to run a 5K, but got hurt and never seemed to be able to run after my injury healed.

I decided that this time would be different and I would achieve my running goals. I found a program called the Couch to 5K, went to a running store to get properly fitted with shoes and equipment, and started the journey of awakening my inner-athlete.

I’m now a multi-sport athlete, although skiing and mountain biking are my favs. In the process I’ve rediscovered who I am fundamentally as a person. I’m happiest when I’m doing something active, especially outdoors. Snow or sand; beach or mountains. Doesn’t matter as long as I’m outside.

My story

This is my story of how I try to fit everything into the busy life of a entrepreneur, daughter, sister, friend, etc, etc. It’s not perfect, but I’m having a blast.

My hashtags say it best: #LiveLife and #BeBrave. My goal is to encourage and inspire others to achieve their business and personal goals.

Post-45 was fun, but Post-50 is truly the new WOW! I don’t know what I’ll do next or where I’ll end up, but I know I’ll have a blast in the meantime.
