Awesome lunch time run. I always wanted to run on Old Georgetown Road. I started on the Bethesda Trolley Trail, which started out uphill so it was hard to get my legs moving so I went out to Old Georgetown Road, which has flat sidewalks rather than a hilly path. Good move I think because I didn’t want to tax my Achilles too much. The running intervals were under a 10:45 minute pace, which really excites me. Ran 6:15/:45 intervals for miles 2 and 4 and ran the last 1/2 mile without stopping. Mile 3 was a little slower because I turned around into a headwind AND a hill. 🙂 My Achilles started to get sore in Mile 3 so I stretched it a bit and then shortened my stride. Once I changed my stride I had no more problems at all. I really need to imprint this stride. It allowed me to run much further without stopping and without much effort. Plus I was faster because I had better turnover.
Mile 1 = 12:51, best pace = 10:01
Mile 2 = 12:32, best pace = 10:11
Mile 3 = 13:01, best pace = 9:49 (tried to make up some time after the hill/incline)
Mile 4 = 12:38, best pace = 10:40
Mile .02 = 12:08
