I’ve dealt with injury issues and lack of sleep before a race (never stopped me), but never a bad stomach. Everyone tells you to eat the same things to avoid stomach upset so I made sure to follow this mantra. However, I ate something either Friday night or Saturday afternoon that absolutely did not agree with me and paid the price. It’s quite possible that it was a combination of lack of eating properly (or at all) combined with an incredibly busy week (10/12 hours days) and a lack of sleep. I think my system may be so overloaded that it rebelled forcing me to slow.
Anyway, the result is dehydration and really shaky legs. I managed to get almost 8 hours of sleep Saturday night and hope to rest up and hydrate enough so that a run this afternoon can happen. I think I may go to the gym instead of outside so I’m around people just in case I get woozy.
Sigh…I still haven’t figured out this work-life balance and it’s starting to catch up to me.
One week until the Frederick Half. I focused on gettin gthere in one piece!
